3 Tips to Avoid Dry Flaky Skin This Summer

In the summertime, our skin tends to take a bit of a hit. Excessive heat, air conditioning and strong UV rays can all cause our skin to dry out and become flaky. Here are our top three tips on how to avoid this and have healthy glowing skin this summer.

1. Make sun protection your priority
Although sun protection should be used all year round, it is ESPECIALLY essential that you keep on top of this in the summer. You’ll likely be spending more time outdoors, and we all know how hot the Australian summer gets. Ensure you apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a SPF of 15+ (although SPF 50+ would be ideal) or higher daily.

2. Moisturise!
Remember to keep moisturising this summer – after you shower, shave or even wash the dishes. This is very important as it helps restore hydration to the skin and also helps prevents the escape of moisture. We recommend Cetaphils Daily Advance Ultra Hydrating Lotion as an all over body moisturiser as it is specially formulated for dry skin and is even suitable for those who have sensitive skin.

3. Be wary of excess time in Air Conditioning
We all know that heaters dry out skin during the winter. But did you know that air conditioners suck the moisture and humidity out of the air in summer? Shutting the blinds and curtains in your house will help keep the temperature down. To combat the air-con (because let’s face it, air-conditioning can be a need in the Aussie summer), just make sure you keep on top of your moisturising routine before and after coming in contact with it.
