Wash and dry the affected area. Apply the ointment twice a day, making sure to cover the whole area. Put the plastic tip on the open end of the tube. Put the tip of the tube into the rectum and gently squeeze it. After use, wash the nozzle in a hot detergent solution and then rinse it well in clean water. If the ointment is hard to get out of the tube, warm the tube by holding it between your hands for a few minutes.
