• Berberine ImmunoPlex provides a blend of herbs standardised to
contain 109.26mg berberine per tablet from Phellodendron and
Barberry.
• Berberine is an isoquinoline plant alkaloid that belongs to the
structural class of protoberberines. Protoberberine alkaloids
include berberine (the major alkaloid), jatrorrhizine, palmatine,
columbamine. Berberine represents one of the most studied among
the naturally occurring protoberberine alkaloids1
.
• Berberine has a distinctive yellow colour and bitter flavour and is
naturally found in the bark, roots and rhizomes of various medicinal
plants including Phellodendron, Barberry, Indian barberry, Golden
seal and Chinese goldthread.

DRUG INTERACTIONS
• Contraindicated with cyclosporine - berberine can reduce the
metabolism and increase serum levels of cyclosporine.
• Caution with hypoglycemic medications - berberine can lower blood
glucose levels. Monitor blood sugar levels.
• Caution with immunosuppressants - Cat’s claw may interfere with
immunosuppressants due to immunostimulating activity.
• Caution with anticoagulant medication - Pau d’arco and Thyme may
have antiplatelet activity.
CAUTIONS
• Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation – Pau d’arco may cause
foetal damage and berberine can cross the placenta and may cause
harm to the foetus and stimulate uterine contractions. Berberine can
also pass through the breast milk.
• May increase the risk of bleeding. Discontinue use 2 weeks prior to
surgery.
• Thyme can cause allergic reactions in some individuals.
Adults and children over 12 years - Take 1 tablet, twice daily, with food, or as directed by your health professional.
