Magnesium Threonate is a unique and highly bioavailable form of magnesium. The compound consists of magnesium and the L-isomer of threonic acid L- Threonate, a metabolite of ascorbic acid.
Magnesium is the second most abundant cation of the intracellular fluids of the body and is involved in over 300 biochemical activities, including enzymatic processes, macromolecule-organelle binding (mRNA binding to ribosomes) and organelle functioning (mitochondria and ATP production). Due to its critical involvement in the functioning of the sodium/potassium ATPase pump and calcium pumps, magnesium is also vital for optimal neuromuscular communication and muscle contractility and relaxation. It is, therefore, vital for the adequate functioning of almost every biological system.
