Hydrocolloid, moisture-retentive DuoDERM CGFTM Dressing is used for both partial and full-thickness wounds that have exudate. It is different from other hydrocolloid dressings because it uses a special ConvaTec hydrocolloid formulation. Leg ulcers and pressure ulcers (Stage I–IV) are examples of chronic wounds for which DuoDERM CGFTM Dressing is indicated. Acute wounds include donor sites, partial thickness burns, and traumatic wounds (small cuts, abrasions).
When there is a significant amount of exudate, Duoderm CGF is used. Pectin, gelatin, and sodium carboxymethylcellulose make up the inner adhesive skin contact layer of Duoderm extra thin, while polyurethane makes up the outermost foam layer.
It is indicated for the management of low to moderately exuding wounds. Chronic wounds: pressure ulcers, leg ulcers and Acute wounds: minor burns, skin donor sites, and other surgical and traumatic wounds.
Use water to clean the wound and take out any ooze. Take off the new piece of Duoderm's white paper backing and gently apply it over the wound. Avoid stretching excessively and make sure to leave a 1-inch margin around the wound when cutting to size. Keep sealed for a maximum of four days, unless there is a leak.
