The Guardian 4 sensor is part of the Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system and works with the MiniMed 780G system that utilizes the Guardian 4 transmitter. It detects small amounts of glucose in the interstitial fluid beneath the skin and converts this into an electronic signal. The system then uses these signals to provide glucose readings, and the sensor is designed to replace fingerstick blood glucose tests for making diabetes treatment decisions.
The Guardian 4 sensor contains two biological reagents: glucose oxidase, and human serum albumin (HSA).

The Guardian 4 sensor (MMT-7040) is designed to monitor glucose levels for diabetes management in individuals aged seven years and older. It is intended to be used as a supplementary device alongside standard blood glucose monitoring, not as a replacement. The sensor is for single use only and requires a prescription.
