• Cold & Flu Strike is a combination of immunostimulating herbs plus

nutrients to support immune health and reduce the severity and

duration of common colds, flu and mild upper respiratory tract

infections (URTIs).

• URTIs are characterised by infectious pathogens that affect the

sinuses, nasal passages, pharynx and larynx and are one of the most

common reasons for a doctor visit. The majority of URTIs are caused

by viral infections, though some are of bacterial origin, and are

highly contagious with the ability to spread from person to person via

droplets from an infected person coughing or sneezing.

• The common cold is a type of URTI, with more than 200 different

viruses that can cause the infection. On average, an adult will get 2-4

colds every year. Symptoms can include sore throat, fever, sneezing,

blocked or runny nose and cough. These symptoms are usually mild

to moderately severe and usually resolve within 7-10 days.

Andrographis paniculata (Andrographis) herb extract 120mg

DRUG INTERACTIONS

• Caution with immunosuppression agents (e.g. cyclosporine) –

Cold & Flu Strike may interfere with immunosuppression agents due

to its immunostimulant activity.

• Caution with anticoagulant and antiplatelet drugs - additive effects

are theoretically possible as Andrographis has been shown to inhibit

platelet aggregation in animals. Observe for increased bruising or

bleeding.

• Caution with NSAIDs, penicillamine, cefalexin and tetracycline and

quinolone antibiotics - zinc forms complexes with these drugs,

reducing absorption of both. Separate dose by 3 hours.

• Caution with aluminium-based antacids - vitamin C increases the

amount of aluminium absorbed. Separate dose.

CAUTIONS

• Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• Contraindicated in states of hyperacidity, especially duodenal ulcers

(Andrographis).

• Caution in individuals with autoimmune conditions.

• Caution in individuals with bleeding disorders. Andrographis may

inhibit platelet aggregation and increase the risk of bleeding.

• Caution in people with conditions of iron overload, such as

hemochromatosis, as vitamin C increases iron absorption.

• Discontinue use one week before surgery.

• Separate from mineral supplementation or coffee by 2 hours - coffee

reduces zinc absorption and minerals may interfere

with zinc absorption.

SIDE EFFECTS

• Side effects are rare. High doses of Andrographis can (rarely) cause

gastric discomfort, anorexia and vomiting. Long-term high-dose

Andrographis has been associated with temporary loss of taste

sensation.

• Andrographis may cause allergic reactions in some individuals. In the

case of a severe reaction (such as anaphylaxis), stop use and seek

immediate medical attention.

Adults and children over 12 years – Take 1 tablet, once or twice daily, with food, or as directed by your health professional.

Not to be used in children under two years of age without medical advice.

Not to be used in children under 5 years for relief of mild fever.
