Shipping Information
• Adequate calcium intake is essential at every stage of life and
important for the prevention of osteoporosis later in life. While bone
mass accrues in the earlier stages of life, maintaining appropriate
calcium levels in the body is important for ongoing bone strength and
for reducing the risk of fractures later in life.
• After 30 years of age, bone mass begins to decline in both men and
women. Osteoporosis affects 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men globally,
regardless of geographical location1 and over 1 million Australians are
affected by osteoporosis2
.
• Boron is important for the metabolism and utilisation of the bone
building nutrients calcium, magnesium and vitamin D. Boron plays
an important role in extending the half-life of vitamin D, which is
essential for the body’s ability to absorb calcium.
• Magnesium, vitamin D and vitamin K are required for calcium to be
absorbed in the body. Calcium cannot function without sufficient
magnesium, while calcium, vitamin D and vitamin K all work together
in a delicate balance to achieve proper bone density.
• Equisetum arvense, Horsetail, is a perennial herb and one of the
highest natural sources of silica. Silica accelerates the process of
calcification and deposition in bone. It also improves bone matrix
quality and facilitates bone mineralisation.

DRUG INTERACTIONS
• Caution with tetracycline and quinolone antibiotics – drug
bioavailability may be reduced with calcium, magnesium or
manganese supplementation. Take antibiotics either 2 hours before
or 4-6 hours after calcium.
• Caution with thiazide diuretics – drug decreases urinary excretion
of calcium. Monitor serum calcium levels and look for signs of
hypercalcaemia.
• Caution with cardiac glycosides (digoxin) – calcium supplementation
may cause drug toxicity. Monitor use.
• Caution with bisphosphonates – magnesium can form complexes
with drug and reduce absorption. Separate dose by 2 hours.
• Caution with calcium channel blockers – magnesium may have
additive effects and enhance the hypotensive effect. Monitor blood
pressure.
• Caution with potassium-sparing diuretics – these drugs also have
magnesium-sparing properties which could, theoretically, lead to
increased magnesium levels. Monitor.
• Caution with skeletal muscle relaxants – magnesium can potentiate
effects.
• Caution with magnesium, iron and zinc supplements - concurrent use
with calcium can reduce the absorption of these minerals. Separate
dose by 2 hours.
CAUTIONS
• Calcium supplementation is contraindicated in hypercalcaemia and
hypercalciuria.
• Caution with hyperparathyroidism and chronic kidney disease
– calcium supplementation should only be taken under medical
supervision.
• Vitamin D is contraindicated in people with vitamin D hypersensitivity,
systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and hypercalcaemia.
SIDE EFFECTS
• Calcium supplementation may cause mild gastrointestinal discomfort,
nausea, constipation and flatulence in some sensitive individuals.
Adults only - Take 1 tablet, three times a day, with food, or as directed by your health professional
