Shipping Information
• Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) is comprised of two closely related
molecules: ubidecarenone (also known as ubiquinone) and ubiquinol.
Ubiquinone is the fully oxidised state of CoQ10, while ubiquinol is the
fully reduced or active form.
• Ubiquinol is the metabolically active form of CoQ10 that is ready for
use in the body. Other forms of CoQ10, such as ubidecarenone, are
converted to ubiquinol prior to use. Ageing leads to a decrease in
the function of the enzyme that converts ubidecarenone to ubiquinol,
resulting in decreasing ubiquinol levels. For anyone over the age of
40, ubiquinol is the preferred CoQ10 supplemental form.
• Ubiquinol is more bioavailable than ubidecarenone, demonstrating
greater absorption and uptake by the body.
• A randomised, double-blind, crossover study examined the
bioavailability of both ubiquinol and ubiquinone using an acute intake
of 100mg in 10 healthy subjects with 2 weeks between treatments. In
the ubiquinol group, plasma concentrations were significantly higher
compared to ubiquinone at 6, 8, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours post-intake
(p<0.001). The area under the curve (AUC) for ubiquinol 72 hours
post-intake was 4.3-fold greater than for ubiquinone1
.
• The ubiquinol in Ubiquinol 100mg is sourced from world-wide
ubiquinol specialist, Kaneka, who use innovative patented technology
to stabilise ubiquinol (which, under normal circumstances, is readily
oxidised by air and converted into ubidecarenone).
• Ubiquinol 100mg contains ubiquinol produced in a natural
fermentation process by yeast. It is in a rice bran oil base, which
provides a stable base. Rice bran oil has a high content of tocotrienols
(antioxidants in the vitamin E family), which provide greater stability
from oxidation than soy oil.
Each capsule contains:
Ubiquinol-10 (Kaneka QH™)...................................................................................................................................100mg
Contains sulfites.
DRUG INTERACTIONS
• Caution with antihypertensive medication – ubiquinol may have
additive effects. Monitor blood pressure.
• Caution with warfarin and other antiplatelet and anticoagulant
medication – conflicting reports have shown ubiquinol may decrease,
increase or have no effect on the efficacy of oral anticoagulants. Use
only under the care of a health professional.
CAUTIONS
• None noted at the recommended dose.
SIDE EFFECTS
• Ubiquinol is generally well-tolerated. Less than 1% of people
experience mild gastrointestinal side effects, such as nausea,
vomiting, diarr
Adults – Take 1 capsule daily, with food, or as directed by your health professional.
