Herbs of Gold Lung Care 60 tablets

• Lung Care contains the herbs Licorice, Elecampane and Adhatoda

plus antioxidant nutrients to support lung health and healthy immune

system function.

• Anti-catarrhal herbs reduce the formation of mucus and expectorant

herbs facilitate the removal of mucus and other materials from the

lungs, bronchi and trachea. Traditionally, there was a strong focus

on encouraging elimination to support respiratory system health. It

was believed that clearing excess mucus and catarrh would enable

optimal respiratory health.

Each tablet contains:

Glycyrrhiza glabra (Licorice) root and stolon extract 200mg

derived from dry root and stolon ................................................................................................................................1g

Inula helenium (Elecampane) root extract 100mg

Justicia adhatoda (Adhatoda) leaf extract 50mg

 equiv. vitamin E 37.3IU

Selenomethionine equiv. selenium ....................................................................................................25 micrograms

DRUG INTERACTIONS

• Caution with potassium-depleting drugs (e.g thiazide diuretics and

laxatives) and cardiac glycosides - Licorice may increase potassium

loss.

• Caution with corticosteroids - Licorice may potentiate the

pharmacologic effects corticosteroid drugs and cause potassium

depletion.

• Caution with warfarin - Licorice can induce CYP450 enzymes and

decrease warfarin levels. Monitor INR.

• Caution with aluminum-based antacids - vitamin C increases the

amount of aluminum absorbed. Separate dose by 2 hours.

CAUTIONS

• Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding.

• Licorice is contraindicated in cholestatic liver disorders, liver cirrhosis,hypertonia, hypokalemia, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disorders and severe kidney insufficiency.

• Caution in iron overload conditions (e.g. haemochromatosis), as vitamin C increases iron absorption.

SIDE EFFECTS • Occasional allergic reactions may occur due to sensitivity caused by the sesquiterpene lactones present in Elecampane. • Licorice may cause hypertension, sodium and water retention and hypokalemia through the mineralocorticoid effect of glycyrrhizin (unlikely at this dose). • Excessive use of Adhatoda can cause hypotension.

Adults and children over 12 years - Take 1 tablet, twice daily, with food, or as directed by your health professional.
